How do you turn international trade uncertainty into a controlled workflow?
The work is not to digitize the handoffs. It is to make them traceable. At Lartiel, the same decision-led method moves from finance into sourcing, quality and commercial movement.

Problem
A handoff is where context can disappear.
International trade crosses requirements, supplier work, quality checks, approvals and movement. Putting each activity online does not automatically connect the information between them.
My role as Technical Director covers technology strategy, digital platforms and systems development. The design problem is to carry the reason for each action into the next commercial step.
Evidence
The next step needs more than a status label.
Supplier verification, issued requests and quality checks need supporting records. The sourcing tests explicitly distinguish documented verification evidence from an enum value alone.
The quality service requires attachments for completed checklist items that require evidence. A recorded inspection result and the evidence behind it remain different parts of the operating record.
Constraint
The chain cannot advance by skipping its reasons.
The sourcing workflow requires an approved requirement before discovery work can proceed. Evidence-generated stages cannot be advanced through a general status change.
At the quality gate, an inspector must be assigned, required checklist items must be completed and required evidence must be attached. These are operating constraints, not visual warnings.
Judgment
An approval should carry a reason forward.
The quality gate is a decision point between inspection evidence and the next operational action. The implementation records a quality decision separately from the inspection checks.
Sourcing also preserves the selected offer snapshot. That keeps the commercial decision tied to the offer considered, rather than to an editable summary detached from its context.
System
Connect the chain. Keep the handoffs visible.
Requirements, supplier workflows, quality-control evidence, approvals and tracking form the operating flow. The same method used at MarketRise is transferred into a different commercial domain.
Tracking records retain event history and event source alongside the current status. Recording a tracking event also writes an activity record, making the update part of an accountable handoff.

Outcome
Traceability is the capability. Impact still needs evidence.
The implementation connects the request, supplier work, inspection decisions and tracking records. Workflow tests exercise evidence requirements and block selected invalid advances.
This demonstrates an implemented operating structure, not a measured reduction in trade risk, delays or cost. Business outcomes are not yet documented here.
